HOW

The natural aging process, combined with exposure to sun and pollution, destroys collagen vital to keeping skin looking youthful and radiant. This treatment removes damaged skin cells and increases the skin’s natural collagen production.

During the treatment, a Fractional Er:YAG Laser beam is fractionated or divided up into numerous tiny little shafts of lasers. These tiny shafts of lasers form a Laser-Matrix that effectively penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin.

Old damaged skin is also pushed out and replaced by new skin cells.

Compared to a traditional resurfacing laser, a fractionated laser minimises downtime whilst maximising results.

This laser excels at treating deeper wrinkles, more severe textural changes from sun damage, dull blotchiness, acne scars and large open pores.

There are subtle differences between the many fractional lasers that we use at SKN MediAesthetics. Following a consultation with Dr. Alvin Wong, we will recommend the most suitable laser treatment based on your needs and aesthetics goals.

WHERE

Wrinkles, acne scars, and open pores are all easily treated.

This same laser can also treat other parts of the body with impressive results. This includes post-pregnancy stretch marks, burns, and scars.

SAFETY

Lasers have been used in aesthetic medicine for decades and have been proven to provide safe, predictable and effective results when used by trained doctors. Dr Alvin Wong is experienced with Fractional Er:YAG Lasers, and will customise the treatment according to your needs. If performed correctly, laser treatments will not cause skin sensitivity or thinning.

TREATMENT

Bear in mind that the fractional Er:YAG laser resurfacing treatments can be customised. Treatments can be deeper, with more downtime, or shallower, with less. The deeper the treatment, the better the results generally. Some patients prefer to have more treatments that aren’t as deep so they can avoid downtime.

There is minimal pain during the laser treatment, but all patients are offered a topical numbing cream to be applied to the treatment area 30 minutes before.

The number of treatments you will need is also based on the severity of your problem. Some may require as little as 1 treatment to achieve their desired results, while for others it may take 5 treatments. Dr Alvin Wong will work with you in mapping your needs and goals during your initial consultation.

AFTER

During the first 24 hours after treatment, your skin may feel warm and tender. You may notice a matrix-like pattern on your skin where the laser has been applied. This Laser-Matrix will appear pink then turn brown and flake off over 2-7 days. This healing all depends on how intensive your treatment is.

In most cases, you can wear make-up the next day.
