THERMAGE FOR BODY

Thermage is a non-invasive medical procedure clinically proven to help smooth wrinkles, tighten sagging skin, and improve the appearance of loose skin and cellulite. It works through stimulating collagen growth using medical Radio Frequency (RF) energy.

A comparison is often asked about a similar treatment, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). Unlike HIFU, Thermage is approved for safe use on the neck, eyes, areas around the nose and other sensitive areas without risk of nerve injury, whilst providing for good long lasting results in all others. At SKN MediAesthetics, we have had the opportunity to use both Thermage and HIFU on our patients and we still choose Thermage over HIFU after a detailed comparison.

SKN MediAesthetics and Dr. Alvin uses the latest model of Thermage which guarantees a treatment with less discomfort, yet producing good reliable results session after session.  During the initial consultation, different options will be discussed to ensure that the treatment is conducted comfortably, yet producing good results.  We regularly treat patients with low tolerance to pain, and have been able to provide good outcomes still without too much discomfort.

Which parts of my body can Thermage target? Am I a good candidate for Thermage?

Thermage procedures can effectively and safely treat the skin on most parts of the body, including the face, neck, thighs, arms and abdomen where there is loose skin, especially after pregnancy. You might be a good candidate for Thermage if you have:

  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin and cheeks
  • Drooping eyelids
  • Post pregnancy skin laxity over the abdomen
  • Sagging buttocks

How does Thermage work?

Radio Frequency (RF) technology is used to safely heat the deep, collagen rich layers of the skin.

The heat helps immediately tighten existing collagen giving an immediate result and also stimulate the formation of new collagen, which can reduce sagging and improve the smoothness and texture of the skin.

What is the process of getting a Thermage treatment like?

During the treatment, you’ll feel a brief cooling sensation, followed by a deep but brief heating sensation, followed by another cooling sensation.

The heating sensation is a sign that the deep layers of your skin are reaching effective temperatures for smoothing wrinkles, while the cooling sensation protects the surface of the skin and makes the procedure comfortable.

Throughout the procedure, Dr. Alvin will constantly communicate with you to ensure you are comfortable while still delivering the desired results.

A single Thermage treatment takes anywhere between 45-60 minutes.

Is Thermage safe? Does it have any adverse side effects or downtime?

Thermage is doctor performed and FDA approved for medical use. Over a million treatments have been performed by doctors in more than 80 countries and Thermage procedures have an excellent safety record since 2002.

Thermage has zero or very little downtime, and does not require any specific special care after treatment. There is bruising or peeling after the treatment and you will be able to return to work and exercise the next day.

What sort of results can I expect from a Thermage treatment?

For most people, some results are visible immediately and these will continue over time. Best results are usually seen at 2 months and most continue to improve up to 6 months following a single treatment session.

Results can last for up to 2 years, although many patients are satisfied enough with the visible improvements to ask for a repeat treatment even after 1 year.

Common feedback from patients is that the eyes look brighter and fresher, many often commenting that they do not need to use as much eye makeup as before. The lower cheeks are lifted and the skin tighter. Neck lines are visibly reduced.

Thermage can also be applied to the body using specialised tips and technique. Dr. Alvin can help you improve on sagging skin post pregnancy and drooping buttocks.
