SKN Revage Hair Loss Laser Treatment

SKN only uses the original, made-in Sweden, Apira Revage 670nm Laser for hair loss treatment. This laser has the most published clinical research papers showing the benefits of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to help bio-stimulate the scalp into growing hair. Some establishments may say their treatments are forms of LLLT, but are actually heat, infra-red lamps or broad spectrum LED lights.

What happens before a hair loss laser treatment?

A thorough examination of your scalp, hair, and medical history will be done. For some patients, this might include blood tests and where necessary, biopsies.

A course of treatment will then be prescribed by Dr. Alvin based on the findings, the type, and the stage of hair loss. Treatment protocols will be slightly different for patients with early, intermediate and advanced stages of hair loss.

Just like most other medical conditions, early detection is key. The earlier you receive treatment, the more effective the treatment will be in restoring a full head of healthy hair.

What is the process of getting treated like?

The hair loss laser treatment therapy uses a process known as bio-stimulation in order to trigger Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production within hair cells as well as to increase nutrient transport to the scalp. There will be a series of 30 rotating laser diodes on a device that will be worn by the patient. Each treatment takes around 20 minutes.

This treatment works well for patients who have active hair follicles that can be stimulated into hair growth. For patients whose hair follicles are completely dead, hair transplantation with micro-grafts might be recommended by Dr. Alvin instead. The severity of your hair loss is an important factor in determining this; depending on your condition a slightly different regimen of oral medication and laser therapy might be prescribed.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required will depend on the severity and type of hair loss that you have.

Hair loss is a gradual process that takes place over months or years. Similarly, recovery also takes a similar amount of time. A normal hair life cycle is around 3 months. The stimulation of hair roots alone through medical therapy takes 4-6 weeks. Thus, a normal cycle for hair loss laser treatment will be anywhere between 3 to 9 months.

Once results are seen, the course will be tailored into a lower frequency maintenance plan which will require less visits to the clinic.

Is the treatment safe? Are there any adverse side effects?

All hair loss treatment components at SKN MediAesthetics Singapore have been vigorously tested and documented for medical efficacy and safety.

The initial consultation with Dr. Alvin Wong would cover any medical conditions that might make you unsuitable for any component of our hair loss treatments.

The laser therapy treatments and topical medications do not cause discomfort, or have adverse side effects. There is no downtime associated with most of our hair loss treatments and you can resume normal activities immediately.

What kind of results can I expect?

A reduction in hair loss within 3 months is expected, with an expectation that new hair growth will follow. Consistent in-clinic treatment and home care are important steps to take in order to maintain any results you’ve attained.

Once this is achieved, patients will then be moved to a lower frequency maintenance plan which can help them to maintain a thick, healthy head of hair.

At SKN MediAesthetics, we do not use herbs or tonics with no scientific grounding. You will not have to purchase large quantities of products that are expensive and complicated to use. Your treatment programme will not entail a complicated home care routine. Only the most robust medical treatments with good clinical data will be prescribed and tailored to the individual.

It is important that you be conscientious and committed to treatment sessions as well as the timely application and taking of prescribed products and medications. Adhering to the treatment protocol will require as little as 5 minutes of your time per day, and 20 minutes up to twice a week for in-clinic treatments.
