What is SKN Regenera Activa Hair Loss Treatment?
Regenera Activa Hair Loss treatment is a hair loss treatment technique similar to FUE hair transplants, but much less invasive. This treatment makes use of “Micro-Grafts” taken from your own healthy hair instead of transplanting the entire hair follicle.
It is a targeted treatment which involves implanting your own healthy tissue directly into the most affected areas of the scalp to trigger hair growth naturally, without the use of medication or surgery.
What happens before a Regenera Activa Treatment?
A thorough examination of your scalp, hair, and medical history will be done. For some, this might include blood tests and where necessary, biopsies.
The best course of treatment will then be prescribed by Dr. Alvin based on the findings, the type, and the stage of hair loss. Treatment protocols may be slightly different if you have early, intermediate or advanced stages of hair loss. How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the severity of the hair loss and whether other hair loss treatments have been prescribed in combination with Regenera Activa. Generally, the results can last up to 3 years, but it is recommended that patients return after 1 year to consider repeat treatments in order to give the best chance that hair develops fully.
What is the process of getting the treatment like?
An area with healthy hair usually located at the back of the head is selected. Local anaesthetic is applied and then the micro-graft is harvested. This is processed in the Regenera Activa machine in the clinic. Dr. Alvin will then reintroduce the micro-grafts into target areas of the scalp that are most affected by hair loss.
The entire treatment will take around 1 hour to complete.
Is the treatment safe? Are there any adverse side effects?
Similar to a hair transplantation procedure, autologous transplants (your own scalp cells) are used. No medication or harmful chemicals are utilised. There may be slight tenderness of the scalp after the treatment, but you are able to rinse your hair and shower after. You will be ready to return to work and exercise the next day.
What kind of results can I expect?
This depends on the severity of your hair loss. You can expect to see some results within 4-6 weeks. Best results can be expected to be seen at around the 6-9 months mark and improvements are sustained up to a year and beyond in most.
